US financial bailout packages concentrate on pumping liquidity to banks.<\/p>\n

govt officials hope that banks will increase lending to the poor on the belief that the poor have the right to get credit.<\/p>\n

during recession, banks will either:
\n1. refuse to lend to the poor, fearing of loan becoming non-performing loan
\n2. charge very high interest rate to the poor<\/p>\n

the poor does not have the “right” to get loan.<\/span><\/p>\n

the term “prime rate” already tells the nature of interest rate charging prime\/privileged customers.<\/span><\/p>\n

as banks are flooded with more liquidity, they have no choice but to lend as much as possible to the rich at very low interest rate<\/span> as US govt watchdogs are monitoring their business.<\/p>\n

the rich has the privilege to get as big the loan as possible. if the rich can get funding at near zero cost, it may be a low risk hedge\/arbitrage to long 5 to 10 year US govt treasuries to earn the interest rate differential.<\/p>\n

the pumping of credit by US govt to banks will finally go back to US treasuries. the result will be both low long term interest rates low and weak economy with tight credit.
